I discovered the work of Maria Valtorta through my mother who lent me her books.

Impact on faith

Maria Valtorta's work accompanied me during my pilgrimage in Israel, during which I experienced inner peace. The passages I read in the book corresponded to the places we visited (site of the Visitation, home of the Holy Family). I only read the first volume, but it allowed me to better visualize the life of the Virgin Mary and the childhood of Jesus.

Graces received

In my actual life, I have not felt any tangible impact on my spiritual life but this reading made me discover the Gospels in a different way and increased my curiosity for the Virgin Mary.

What would you say to someone hesitating to discover this work?

Discovery of the work

I learned about the work of Maria Valtorta from my mother since the 1990s. She was subscribed at the time to the Stella Maris magazine. She would share with me, from time to time, the stories of Marian apparitions, in France, Portugal, Yugoslavia. It was only in 2019-2021 that after searching for this work in vain since 1997 (I was initially 18 years old), I learned about the existence of websites that provided access to the entirety of this work. My little sister had sent me this link: https://maria-valtorta.org/ during COVID and I found others afterwards.

Impact on faith

1- The work allowed me to clearly place JESUS-CHRIST in time in a precise manner. 2- The work allowed me to clearly see that GOD is sovereign and that he is truly free. He does what he wants when he wants, as he wants. 3- I saw the apostles in their skin of simple men, fragile like me, heroic at times, slanderous like the Christians I associate with... in short! Men, not superheroes. Men like me. 4- I see that GOD rejects no one. I note that JESUS-CHRIST and the HOLY VIRGIN did everything (exhortations, prayers... everything) to save Judas. I really had doubts about his damnation. 5- I better understood the meaning of marriage, the danger of sexual disorder and divination. 6- The gospels speak the truth. Indeed, all the libraries would not be enough to contain the testimonies of Christ. 10 volumes but we still haven't seen everything.

I have walked again with Jesus. How can I say that I have walked again with JESUS CHRIST? I ask you to revisit the testimony of the disciples of Emmaus. I read the work over 3 years. Each time I returned to read it, my heart was burning. "The soul recognizes its creator" it is said. As a Catholic who had cooled down, I rediscovered that the sacraments are true. Especially that of reconciliation that many do not like in the Church. If JESUS CHRIST and the Blessed Virgin did not give up on Judas whom they knew was lost due to his refusal to save himself, who am I to discourage myself? If JESUS CHRIST suffered this horror that I read for me, why wouldn't I confess even to the most sinful of priests? Their weakness is not an obstacle for me, but an opportunity to save myself. I say this because around me, some claim that they cannot lower themselves before someone who sins as much or more than they do.

I will say: Several thousand scientifically verified details. "Seek GOD while He may be found". The work is GOD's nth attempt to open our eyes. If you truly believe that GOD cannot let you get lost, you lose nothing. Just read, and afterwards we meet again for your testimony.

In the autumn of 2024, thanks to a person I met during the weekly rosary I participated in July. I then discovered on Youtube: "The Gospel as it was revealed to me". I listened every day for weeks.

Impact on faith

Thus, after more than 40 years of spiritual wandering, I was able to reconnect with my Faith in the Gospel and in Jesus Christ. Step by step, in the simple and powerful understanding of Jesus' testimony to Maria. I gradually felt myself connecting to Jesus' love for me. I regained confidence and acceptance of being loved as I am. I grew, matured, in understanding of Christ's message of peace and his passage on this Earth. I was able to return to prayer, fully aware, in complete freedom. I nourish myself every day with his Love.

Graces received

I was able to return to prayer with more joy and certainty of being heard and listened to. I go to mass every Sunday. The Eucharist nourishes me with strength and wisdom. I am part of a Christian movement for retirees where I co-host the monthly meetings. I am part of the Parish Animation Team (E.A.P.). Beyond these involvements, I feel revived, full of joy and enthusiasm. I welcome what Is and I align myself as best I can every day, in thought, word and deed, to bear witness to the Love of Jesus in me and for all of us. I discovered this work in 1985, I was 22 years old. My faith was languishing due to a lack of spiritual nourishment. Providence allowed me to read a book where the Lord indicated that he had dictated a wonderful work to Maria Valtorta - a victim soul - That he was the Author of this work and that it would provoke furious reactions from Satan. That the work would face great resistance in the Church, but that, if it was studied and meditated upon, it would bring immense good to so many souls. That this work is a source of serious and solid culture and will have great success in his regenerated Church.

Impact on faith

So, I bought the 10 volumes (5000 pages). I was immediately captivated by its content. I read 50 pages a day and finished the work after 3 months of reading. Through this reading, I discovered an intimate journey with the Lord and His apostles, each with their own character. The historical, geographical, and cultural parts provide a complete clarification of life in Palestine 2000 years ago. The Gospel is intertwined in these stories, which specifically provide the context for the words read in the New Testament. A magnificent richness. The flavor of the Gospel is quite different, as it is enriched by a framework that makes it more real and credible, and gives it an understanding accessible to all. Sharing in the Lord's sufferings, in the face of the harshness of his fellow citizens. Rejoicing in the love of his apostles and disciples. The love of Mary for her son, burdened with suffering from men. I received this work as a wink from the Lord telling me: "Read, this will interest you!" Thank you, Lord.

This work has completely changed my relationship with the Lord. From distant, He has become present and accessible. His nature as True God and True Man is palpable on every page of the work. What kindness, gentleness, and availability from the Lord. Incredible model! My life of Faith has transformed. The Lord has taken the first place in my life. Prayer, the sacraments, the Church take on a new relief. It's as if you were nearsighted and you put on glasses, you go from a vision of 2/10 to a vision of 12/10. Everything is new and precise, a new world opens up. Reading the Gospel takes on a new and attractive light. This work has allowed me to structure my faith, to balance it and make it unshakeable. Discovery of the work

I had trouble falling asleep, and one day, a friend told me about a reading he listens to fall asleep... It was the work of Maria Valtorta. So I listened... and it worked well, I fell asleep!... At first, I looked down on it: "Blonde, blue-eyed Mary! Don't they know that people in Palestine have dark skin?!"… Then I was increasingly moved. So I researched these "20,000 details verified by science"... and there, as a scientist, I understood that this work could rationally only come from God… As a result, I changed my attitude and began to listen to it with humility and eagerness.

Born to a Catholic mother and an atheist father, God was a certainty for me as a child. As a young adult, I completely rejected the Catholic Church... I thus built my beliefs, a personal mix with a Jesus of my own making, some New Age, a bit of reincarnation,... At 57 years old, reading this work "flipped me like a pancake". It led me to know Jesus, and, as we only love what we know, I began to love Jesus more and more. My beliefs were turned upside down. For example, today I believe in the inerrancy of the Bible, in papal infallibility, in the Real Presence in the Eucharist, etc...

First, I discovered Maria Valtorta's work through audios on Youtube. Then, I read the 10 volumes of The Gospel as it was revealed to me. Finally, I subscribed to Jesus Today, the email from the Marie de Nazareth association which allows me to discover other revelations of Jesus to the Italian mystic.

Impact on faith

Maria Valtorta's work is a very good complement to the Gospel that I read every day. In it, Jesus reveals things about the meaning of certain passages (like the passage where Jesus sleeps in Peter's boat while the storm rages), some mysteries are lifted (we know precisely what Jesus wrote in the sand in the episode with the adulterous woman). This work makes us feel even more the infinite love of our Lord Jesus Christ for each one of us. We become even more aware of the phenomenal humility of the Man/God that is Jesus. We feel closer to Jesus, we have more desire to imitate him.

When I discovered the work of Maria Valtorta, I was in the midst of returning to the church and I could not find a spiritual director. While I was struggling with major personal problems (health, family, finances), I did not find serious help from the priests. None were available to guide me. The only one who agreed was elderly and he would fall asleep while I was telling him about my troubles. Jesus then became my spiritual director through his revelations to Maria Valtorta. I understood that I had to offer my sufferings to Christ, that they would bear much fruit. I do not blame the priests for their weaknesses, Jesus made me understand that I had to carry them in prayer. I feel that Jesus speaks to me through this work among others. Despite great difficulties, I remain in peace and joy. I even created a Youtube channel, Finding Peace and Joy, where I evangelize.

In 1990, upon my return to God, through the graces of Medjugorje, a friend told me about Maria Valtorta. I wanted to know everything about this Jesus rediscovered after 25 years of spiritual wanderings away from the Church. She first made me read the reason for her being put on the Index before lending me a first volume. The encounter with the living Jesus was immediate and dazzling. I continued this pilgrimage through time and space following Jesus with the permission of my spiritual director. This pilgrimage has not stopped since.

Impact on faith

1. I have concretely discovered that the main purpose of all existence was the life of Faith. This feeling has grown over the past 35 years. My humanity is nourished by the example of that of Jesus to perceive the possible and concrete path of daily sanctity, in all situations. His divinity, made of Mercy, makes me understand his real help in my inevitable imperfection. 2. I had the desire to live my call as a "disciple" by committing myself to a cosmopolitan parish in popular neighborhoods where I was quickly asked to be responsible for the leading team. I carried out, by mission letter, 6 terms of 3 years. At the time, I testified in the newspaper "LA CROIX" about my wonder. 3. In parallel with the almost daily reading of the writings of Maria Valtorta, the "readings of the day" proposed by the Church, have taken on a depth, a relevance and an increased significance. Not only the "eternal" (canonical) Gospel says Jesus, but also the Old Testament and the New Testament writings.

I had the irrepressible desire to announce this living journey following Jesus. I created in 2006 a dedicated website (www.maria-valtorta.org) allowing to freely discover this work in a context of conformity to the Church: more than 100,000 links or footnotes refer to the texts of the Magisterium or the verses of the Scripture. This site receives 30,000 visits/month on average (+ over 5 million in total). I was trained in discernment by Bishop René Laurentin for 10 years (2007-2017). During our weekly work sessions, we published 3 works, the last two on the historical charisma of Maria Valtorta (with Jean-François Lavère) and on her prophetic charisma. I continued with various publications and conferences as discoveries were made about Maria Valtorta, her life and spirituality as well as the different aspects of the work. Adherence to private revelations is a personal act whose value the Church recognizes: "Guided by the Magisterium of the Church, the sense of the faithful knows how to discern and welcome what in these revelations constitutes an authentic call from Christ or his saints to the Church." The Magisterium guides us but it is up to the faithful to discern. Cardinal Ratzinger gave the criterion: orientation to Christ.
