My faith was already alive. In actions by relying on the Word of Jesus (copy the Master) but there, I fell into Love, in Love and for Love. What power. I read with the eyes of my heart and my soul rejoices. Thank you my gentle Shepherd!

Discovery of the work

I was drawing closer to God and Jesus, and one day by chance I came across Olivier BONNASSISES's video on the Shroud of Turin. Deep inside, my faith in science and my faith in the spiritual reconciled, and I said "I believe" in the depths of my heart. Now the miracle is accepted, it is no longer an obstacle between God and me. I immediately wanted to know more and watched other videos, including the one on the writings of Maria Valtorta. I borrowed the first two books from the diocesan library and then bought all ten volumes at once.

Impact on faith

It allowed me to understand certain causes, to put everything into context, to attribute characters, a humanity behind each person, it allowed me to see the coherence, a perfection in the actions and gestures of Jesus. Today, when I read the Gospel, I understand much better many things that remained mysterious. Initially, I was experiencing my journey outside of the Church, without anyone helping me to understand. The Gospel as it was revealed to me made me understand everything and made me love Jesus beyond everything. Thanks to the Work, one almost becomes a doctor of the Gospel.

Graces received

I wanted to be consciously baptized. I was baptized as a baby. I discovered confirmation, and it was exactly what I felt, to confirm my baptism. I opened the doors to a world I did not know. Like Harry POTTER discovering the magical world, I discovered the Roman Catholic Church. Jesus Himself sent me there through Maria VALTORTA, and for me, it is a miracle. Jesus Himself explained the Eucharist and its saving importance to me. I did not want to hear about the Church because of vile prejudices and the world's slanders. I believed the Church no longer existed, and what a surprise it was. I found myself. Since 2022, I have been confirmed, and I receive communion as often as I can. I constantly discover the riches of the Church of Christ. Today, I evangelize almost as much as I meet people. And it is also thanks to the Work. I realize that everything in the Gospel as it was revealed to me is also in the Church through the Bible or tradition. It has been a sort of catechesis.

What would you say to someone hesitating to discover this work?

"Read it and have it read!" I would say to watch the video by Marie of Nazareth on the subject, I would say to first read the books or watch the videos of those who have studied the Work scientifically. I would say: Read and judge! I would say: I will lend you the first volume. (I have bought and will buy the first volume just with this in mind.)

I discovered the Gospel as it was revealed to me just before the lockdown in 2019. I completed the Work at the time of the deconfinement. It was an effective resurrection. I believe the Work saved my life at that moment. I regularly reread the Work because even though I now have the Church and the sacraments, I need to find Our Jesus again. For me, it is in this Work that He is closest to us. I also realize that it was a preparation for my entry into the Roman Catholic Church. Without it, I wouldn't have been able to enter or remain there. I think this is what must happen for many Protestants. Alone in seeking Jesus, I was reaching my limits and desperately reaching a hand towards Heaven, and Jesus, through the Work, extended His hand to me.

Discovery of the work

After the death of our fourth child, who died at birth, I went for grief counselling at the home of a woman who was Catholic. Her husband photocopied two of the visions of Maria Valtorta from Vol. 1 — I, who had been raised in a strict Protestant sect and taught against the Catholic Church, had never read anything like it. So alive! So perfect! I sometimes say, “I was zapped!”

Impact on faith

A massive impact! I saved up for months to buy Vol. 1. It was my whole life, and I didn’t need to work out the Truth — it was there, plain as day! All the usual impediments were no problem: the Papacy, Purgatory, Our Blessed Mother, the Real Presence, etc. — all were a smooth journey.

Graces received

The grace of a strong Faith, which I didn’t have before. I absolutely KNEW this was all true. My desire to be received into the Catholic Church was total. The whole five volumes took me ten years to buy and read with delight. God had kept that special gift very strong.

What would you say to someone hesitating to discover this work?

This Work is a very special gift to the world. There was and is nothing like it for me — perhaps for you, too. I’m almost speechless with amazement and joy at its wonders. Everything is narrated so beautifully and deeply — it has to be from God!

The Works of Maria Valtorta have continued to feed me for over 30 years. I am now 77 years old. I’ve come to know the Persons of the Holy Trinity so much more than before — this Work never becomes outdated!

Impact on faith

By witnessing how Jesus acted in everyday situations, especially in bearing with other people's faults, I have made a conscious effort to pattern my behavior after His. I have gained a much greater understanding and appreciation of the Gospel narrative, as well as clarity regarding many of the most unknown or speculative stories in the Bible. The writings, combined with their complete consistency with Catholic teachings, have served as a means for growing in personal holiness, prayer, and contemplation.

The grace of temperance in resisting temptations to overindulge in earthly goods and pleasures, leaning on prayer and trust to strengthen my resolve amidst trials.

What would you say to someone hesitating to discover this work?

If you have ever had the desire to know Jesus personally—to see how He treated people, how He exemplified merciful love—this is for you. This is a divine gift like no other. It towers over all other works of private revelation of the Gospel account. It was given for these times because Jesus knows what’s coming, and He wants His little ones to be fortified with His love.

By the advice of my brother, while I was reading the revelations of Catherine EMMERICH which do not have the indisputable value of those given to Maria VALTORTA.

Its impact is that I created, under the guidance of Jean-Louis LACOURT (now deceased), Maria VALTORTA reading groups to share my discoveries with brothers and sisters, themselves touched by the grace of the revelations of Jesus and the Virgin Mary.

Graces received

I first became a member of the St. Vincent de Paul conference, which brought me into contact with the small and the poor. Now, at 88 years old, I visit people at the end of their lives in nursing homes to fulfill the wishes of Our Lord and provide services to people in wheelchairs, taking them to the chapel every Sunday where Mass is celebrated. And of course, I pray every day with MAGNIFICAT, recite and meditate on the rosary, confess regularly every month, and each week seek the concordance of the upcoming Sunday's gospel with revelations to benefit many, many people via the internet, including priests.

What would you say to someone hesitating to discover this work?

That there is nothing to fear from those who, blinded, are unaware of the graces of these revelations, which are for me of an absolutely "supernatural" nature, everything in the work proves it! Thank you Lord for this magnificent gift.

Glory to Jesus Christ! When I started reading The Gospel as Revealed to Me, I unexpectedly read it more than twice with great enthusiasm and received answers as to why my faith had stopped growing. The answer was that I had to critically evaluate my minor sins and shortcomings. In addition, the book helped me get to know Our Lord better.

Discovery of the work

After reading the Little Journal of Saint Faustina and the life of Padre Pio, I searched the internet for lives of saints that speak to me with their miracles. I came across an article about Maria Valtorta and bought the books. I had a faith of good upbringing, passed on by my parents, but filled with doubts about the reality of the beautiful stories of the Bible. I was a habitual practitioner.

Impact on faith

About halfway through the 10 volumes, I realized one day that, in fact, I could recite the creed and truly believe in every sentence. It was like a conversion for me.

Graces received

I rediscovered the sacrament of reconciliation, received graces. There is hardly a day without me reading a chapter, and I always come away just as moved. This reading keeps me grounded in my faith, comforts me, has changed my mindset at Mass, and supports me in trials. My faith is not highly theological, it is common sense, of an ordinary person, which may be why these books spoke to me so much. They have admirably explained the Gospels to strengthen and increase my faith.

What would you say to someone hesitating to discover this work?

Read the books with your heart and let yourself be guided by the Love of Jesus who will do the rest.

On February 18, 2019, early in the night, I had a terrifying dream of a whirlwind of absolute darkness pulling me towards it. After making three signs of the cross physically in a "half-sleep" (I was asleep but aware of the importance of making these signs of the cross), perhaps the worst I have ever made, jerky, tense, difficult to perform as if hindered by an opposing force, but which, for me, will remain the most beautiful and significant of my life, the black spiral disappeared. Just before waking up, the cover of the book The Gospel as Revealed to Me by Maria Valtorta appeared in my mind. Awake, I sat on the edge of my bed and then felt a gentle warmth envelop me, and it was as if I were liberated, in a state of soul purity. (It is difficult for me to express this feeling in writing, it was... an extraordinary sense of well-being, calm, happiness, gentleness, peace.)

Discovery of the work

In the 80s, I was visiting the Franciscan Conventuals in Frigento (later they became the Franciscans of the Immaculate). Father Stefano Maria Manelli, O.F.M. Conv., was the Superior. "The Poem of the Man-God" was in their library. That is how I discovered the works of Maria Valtorta. As soon as I was back in Genoa, I went to the diocesan bookstore and bought the whole 10 volumes (there was the possibility to buy them one at a time). The Catholic bookstores "Paoline" were also selling them in every Italian city—Rome, e.g. Later, living in the U.S., I ordered them from the Pauline Store in Canada.

Impact on faith

I read the 10 volumes during a period of 4 years, reading every chapter twice, at least once in front of the Blessed Sacrament Exposed, in the famous church of Santa Marta, downtown Genoa, with nuns in charge of perpetual exposition. My understanding of Scriptures and Dogmatic Theology grew exponentially. Daily Mass became the foundation of the following 40 years of my life. In Genoa, under Cardinal Siri, I completed the formation at "Maria Mater Veritatis School of Theology" (later replaced by the "Superior Institute of Religious Sciences"). In the 90s, I studied Theology for a year in Toulouse at the Interregional Seminary, and at the Catholic Institute of the Dominican friars. In spite of being a foreigner and taking all the courses in French, I was the best student of my class that year.

Powerful meditations on the Mysteries of the Rosary, strength in Exegesis, Dogmatic Theology, ordained as a Permanent Deacon, and 20 years serving 3 bishops as a member of their Curia.

What would you say to someone hesitating to discover this work?

If Fr. Stefano Maria Manelli, spiritual son of Padre Pio (very close to him), allowed the work in the Convent Library, GO FOR IT!!!!

Discovery of the work

I first discovered Valtorta long ago, before the age of the Internet. I think it was in the late 1980s, but I do not recall the exact circumstances. I believe I had read about half of what was then called The Poem of the Man-God. But then, some years later, I stopped reading Valtorta. I think it was because I believed some critics who were saying that the conversations reported in The Poem were banal and trivial. Fortunately, I rediscovered Valtorta a few years ago, probably around the year 2004.

This work has increased my understanding of the teachings of Jesus that are presented in the Gospel readings themselves.

Graces received

I think I have received the grace to see that Jesus teaches that we should love everyone, hate no one, forgive everyone, and judge no one. I have also received a special grace of 100% certain human faith that her writings are from heaven.

What would you say to someone hesitating to discover this work?

Start reading Maria Valtorta for yourself. Disregard those who are negative about it. If you are hesitant about reading her The Gospel as Revealed to Me, then start reading the three volumes she also wrote called The Notebooks. They cover additional information, such as the early Christian Church of the catacombs. In fact, all of the chapters in her Gospel work are actually from the Notebooks.

Discovery of the work

I discovered the work of Maria Valtorta by coming across some posts on Facebook. It was in 2020, and I was emerging from a period of distancing from the Church because I was seeking the Lord precisely where He cannot be found: through the automatic writing done by a friend who, in good faith (I am certain of this because she herself suffered greatly listening to this entity that pretended to be the Lord), believed in what was not true. When she died, I, who had already distanced myself, returned to the Church and to confession. And shortly after, I found Maria Valtorta.

Impact on faith

Reading these pages filled my heart. It's as if Jesus had said to me, "Do you see how I really am?" From that moment, everything changed for me and my husband: Jesus ensured that I followed Him step by step, through the course of His Life, and this prompted me to love Him immensely. He Himself in the work indeed says that "One can only love whom one knows."

Graces received

My life has changed because He is the center of my existence. More constant prayer, daily Holy Mass and Communion, monthly Confession. I have been called to serve as a catechist for the children of my parish and, in my small way, I collaborate in the effort to present Maria Valtorta to all those who do not know her. To make it understood how much my life has changed even in small things, I say that I am a retired literature teacher and used to read about 150 novels a year. Since I read the Gospel and the Valtorta Notebooks, I read nothing else (besides, of course, sacred texts).

The only advice is to give a chance to this work and to our Lord who will know how to change their life through these pages.
