Impact on faith

Having lived through violence, indecency (priest pedophilia), guilt-tripping, etc... I had the image of an unappealing God. Angry with Him, I turned my back on the Church for several years. With Maria Valtorta, I discovered a God completely opposite to the one I had been shown. I felt like I was living with Mary (a woman far from feminist nonsense), the apostles, the disciples, and Jesus, without feeling the distance of the centuries.

I talk about it a lot while considering that if the person refuses, it's their right. All roads lead to Rome. But if it doesn't do any good, it doesn't do any harm, so there's no risk in being interested.

Discovery of the work

I learned of The Poem of the Man-God from one of the Medjugorje websites. I found an odd abridged version on Amazon, downloaded it to my Kindle, and immediately knew in my heart that this was the truth. I was frustrated, though, by all of the grammar and punctuation issues, and thankfully learned after several months that what I was reading wasn’t the full work. It was a process of about six months to learn that The Gospels as Revealed to Me existed, after spending quite a bit of money on scraping up old copies of The Poem.

Impact on faith

I can say I am now in love with Jesus. I never understood that before, or even had any idea that it was possible. God and Jesus are the first things on my mind when I wake, and the last things on my mind when I go to bed. I hardly watch TV anymore, and reading has become just the information from the work. If I have a moment in my day to spend, I want to hang out with Jesus in Palestine!

In conjunction with Mary’s teaching from Medjugorje, I follow what she has told us all to do. I go to church daily, which still surprises me. And I talk about God and Jesus to anyone who appears to be open to hear it. That was something I never did.

What would you say to someone hesitating to discover this work?

Initially, it was devastating realizing that people are actually scared of this work and are not open at all to learning about it. I thought people just needed to know it existed, and they would fall in love with it the way I did. But sadly, that has not been the case! I do have copies of A Summa and Encyclopedia to Maria Valtorta's Extraordinary Work by Stephen Austin, and I gauge my teaching of the work based on where people’s fear comes from.

I accidentally found out about Maria Valtorta via my interest in our Blessed Mother’s apparitions in Medjugorje. It was 2020, and I was a "never again" Catholic, lapsed due to all of the scandal/issues with the Church. Well, now I go to church every morning, say the Rosary and the Divine Chaplet daily, and generally only read what MV has written. My life is now complete, full of God’s love because of Jesus’s time with MV making this incredible work. I have all of the main books and have bought dozens to hand out to anyone who shows interest. Sadly, this Work is a tough sell. I am so blessed that God granted me the openness to immediately know the truth. The saying, "You can't love what you don't know," is so fitting. The Gospels never taught me to LOVE Jesus. This Work has me head over heels in love. Hanging out with Him in Palestine is my most treasured gift. Thank you for keeping the Work safe and available to all.

I "met" her by chance, (but we all know there is never chance with God) I was in deep distress following my father's death and was devastated by grief. This death brought up events I was not proud of, and I was unconsciously seeking to find Jesus again and repent. I browsed Google looking for articles on certain saints and how they freed themselves from their sins. And chance led me to the name of Maria, whom I have never left since.

Impact on faith

I started reading "The Gospel as Revealed to Me" from the very beginning of its visions and I was... "transformed".... I couldn't go a day without reading it, it was vital, urgent. Some visions made me cry, and above all, I felt the intense presence of Jesus "internally and physically" who invited Himself into my heart. It's as if, through the visions, He was speaking to me... I "reconverted" again... I returned to the church. For almost two years, not a day goes by without me reading one or two visions of Maria. It's my vital nourishment every day. I read everything in order, and when I finish, I start reading it all over again. I can sincerely say that Maria came to meet me to bring me back to Faith. It's undeniable.

I have returned to mass, I go every Sunday, I also go to pray some evenings at the Church, I go back to confession, I "feel" myself growing, understanding the things of life with more perspective, I have drawn closer to the poor, the most destitute, I have discovered the Charity of Jesus, what suffering is, what it can bring, what sacrifice is, penance... I still have much to atone for, but every day I learn to rid myself of myself to be, the whole soul to Jesus.

What would you say to someone hesitating to discover this work?

I have already introduced it to several of my friends, I tell them that Maria Valtorta transformed me, that in all her visions there is absolutely everything, and that it is the true daily life of Jesus, that you just need to read to be convinced of the truth of these writings. I never needed, for example, to look for "proof" of the veracity of her writings. I immediately "believed" her.

Maria is the open door to the heart of Jesus. In the visions, one finds life, everything is united there, I mean that in her visions one understands that Love is the foundation of everything, that everything flows from this immense and infinite Love: Intelligence, Science, Art... I don't know how to express it, but one understands that everything that exists is a gift of love from God, in the present, continuously, "unceasingly" renewed, every second, every millisecond... And for me, it is the foundation of all life on earth; without God's breath at every moment, nothing can live. It is through Maria's visions that I discovered this "evidence." And it profoundly marked me. It changed my vision of the world and beings.

I'm a cradle Catholic but had never taken religion seriously, and I left the faith entirely for about 15 years before I began reading The Poem. His love, mercy, and justice — and perhaps just as much, His understanding and fairness — eventually broke through my fog. I began to understand that He wasn’t asking anything impossible, mysterious, or even that strenuous. He simply wanted me to try, and to keep trying. The Poem was the only spiritual book I read over the four years it took for Him to lead this hard-headed mule out of Egypt. Eventually, I could no longer say no to Him, and I returned to the Faith.

Even after coming back to practicing the Faith and making a general confession, I felt I was still carrying my past sins in a bag created by my own inability to forgive myself. One night, I was reading Volume 1, 132, “Jesus at the Clear Water – Closing,” and came across the words: “Forget the past, smile at the future.” At that moment, I knew the Holy Spirit was speaking those words directly to me. I turned off the lights, and while weeping in the dark, the Holy Spirit instantly filled and surrounded me with joy, love, forgiveness, and healing. This intense experience slowly faded over the next few minutes, and I’ve been climbing my mountain ever since. That was 25 years ago. I’ve read the entire work multiple times, and with every reading, more wisdom is revealed than before. The Poem of the Man-God is from God. No one can read it with an open heart and deny that. “By their fruits you shall know them.”

It has allowed me to know more in detail the life of Jesus Christ on earth, His teachings, His parables and miracles, which increases my love for Him, my Faith and encourages me to move forward to achieve the Holiness to which we are all called. I also learned more details about the life of our mother Mary and her fundamental role in the Church.

It helped me become aware of my sins, confess them, and resume my life as a Catholic, this time convinced of the real presence of God in the Eucharist, the importance of confession to be in friendship with God, and now I am preparing for confirmation.

That many times we read or accept information from many sources of theologians or laypeople without any rejection, it is important to give ourselves the opportunity to discern with our reason and willingness to learn more about God; always with prayer so that God always guides us towards the truth.

I am very happy to find this wonderful work because it makes my heart burn with love and union with our Lord. When I read the Holy Scriptures, I understand them more clearly without finding differences. Thanks to Maria Valtorta for being a faithful instrument of God. I made many mistakes in my life because I was not on God's path, one of them being not marrying before giving birth to my children. I lived in free union with the father of my children in adultery because he is married. Through the work, I learned that Jesus is a teacher, and I always asked Him to be my teacher and guide. This way, I was able to recognize my sin and surrender to His will. He gave me the gift of chastity, and in a few months, I will celebrate four years of friendship with the father of my children. The path has not been easy, but I have always turned to prayer, the Sacraments, and the example of purity and obedience of our Mother Mary. Now God is the center of my life, I feel like a new person, and my relationships with my neighbors have changed. I would like that when I meet Jesus, He smiles at me and welcomes me to His Heavenly Kingdom.

In 1982, in the monthly magazine -Madre di Dio- I read an article about Maria Valtorta for the first time, and I immediately understood and wanted to read her writings.

At the age of 20, I never went to Mass, I didn't pray, and I knew nothing about religion... complete ignorance! Then, by chance, I read on a small image with Our Lady of Fatima the phrase: recite the rosary every day for peace... a world opened up to me!! The Madonna appears!! (I knew nothing) but counting my fingers, I began to pray the rosary... over time came confession... the love for the holy Mass and then came THE POEM OF THE MAN-GOD, through the writings of Maria Valtorta I came to know the Living Jesus and He instructed me, taught me to express myself, I learned to speak, my mind opened up, my heart, I held the book to my heart feeling that every word was true and alive, JESUS AND MARY changed the way I think, the way I act (I ONLY COMPLETED ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND ONLY AROUND THE AGE OF 40, THE LOWER SECONDARY SCHOOL).

On the internet, the Holy Spirit guided me on the path of returning to the Church... after 50 years of distance.

Impact on faith

At first, reading was bothersome for me because it dwelled too much on the details, but then I understood that Santa Maria Valtorta (for me, she is already a Saint!) did not want to miss even a blade of grass in her visions, and so I loved her for this as well. Her mission was of extraordinary strength and beauty.

What would you say to someone hesitating to discover this work?

Do not waste time and hurry to get to know the living miracle that was (Saint) Maria Valtorta, the pen of God, the heavens will open to you and she will lead you by the hand to SEE everything we believe in. Maria is a gift that God has given to the world.

For me, Maria Valtorta is already a Saint; her life spent in atrocious suffering of body and spirit is in itself a great testimony of strength that comes from Heaven; her writings are truly wonderful: one is free to judge them as the fruit of a vivid imagination, but there are significant elements of high theological value that she could not have known, as well as descriptions of sacred places she had never visited. Her books are important testimonies of the Divine Will and its realization on Earth. Maria conveys the absolute certainty that every Christian should have in Heaven and in the Holy Spirit's plan for us. For 50 years, I was far from the Church, from priests and nuns, from the Sacraments... and Maria has accompanied me to draw close again. When I have a theological or life doubt, I go online and type the search: The Holy Spirit answers me through Maria. I hope the Church initiates the canonization because it has canonized for much less!! Thank you, Maria Valtorta, give a kiss for me to your Jesus Christ. 🙏♥️

I discovered the work of Maria Valtorta by coming across some posts on Facebook. It was in 2020, and I was emerging from a period of distancing from the Church because I was seeking the Lord precisely where He cannot be found: through the automatic writing done by a friend who, in good faith (I am certain of this because she herself suffered greatly listening to this entity that pretended to be the Lord), believed in what was not true. When she died, I, who had already distanced myself, returned to the Church and to confession. And shortly after, I found Maria Valtorta.

Impact on faith

Reading these pages filled my heart. It's as if Jesus had said to me, "Do you see how I really am?" From that moment, everything changed for me and my husband: Jesus ensured that I followed Him step by step, through the course of His Life, and this prompted me to love Him immensely. He Himself in the work indeed says that "One can only love whom one knows."

Graces received

My life has changed because He is the center of my existence. More constant prayer, daily Holy Mass and Communion, monthly Confession. I have been called to serve as a catechist for the children of my parish and, in my small way, I collaborate in the effort to present Maria Valtorta to all those who do not know her. To make it understood how much my life has changed even in small things, I say that I am a retired literature teacher and used to read about 150 novels a year. Since I read the Gospel and the Valtorta Notebooks, I read nothing else (besides, of course, sacred texts).

A wonderful and at the same time difficult impact, I felt increasingly enveloped by the Mercy of God. It made me realize how serious my sins were, how I had settled into a convenient doctrine. I gradually discovered all the graces the Lord had given me throughout my Life, spiritual graces but also material ones (family, children, work, friendships, home) and in particular, I rediscovered God in the beauty of nature, in the wonders of Creation. I started confessing more frequently, trying to change my Life, I resumed praying, rediscovering the Saints, the martyrs, the witnesses of Faith... and what can I say about all the figures of the Gospel, starting with the wonderful Jesus, to Mary, Joseph, the shepherds, the apostles, Sintica, John of Endor, Aglae, the Magdalene... Judas. I then had the Grace to face with this rebirth the illness and my handicap that led me to a wheelchair, and I felt a Peace that I had NEVER had when I was "healthy". I read and reread the Gospel, and each time the Lord gives me new Life.

Try, try in a moment of difficulty or Joy when the spirit is more receptive, try and you will understand on every page that you have found a Treasure that will lead us together with M. Valtorta into the Eternal Light of the Lord, of the Most Holy Trinity with the Blessed Mary, the Angels, and all the Saints. Amen

From divorced parents, in a family where Catholicism was only formal, I left a private institution at the end of my secondary studies completely disenchanted: following a life choice, I stopped all practice. 40 years later, on the internet, I came across "The Word that Gives Eternal Life." The passage recounted Jesus' agony in Gethsemane, an excerpt from "The Gospel as Revealed to Me" by Maria Valtorta. Initially, I photocopied the texts to read at leisure, then I acquired the 10 volumes, the 3 "Notebooks," the "Diaries," and everything related to Maria Valtorta.

Impact on faith

It was a spiritual regeneration, because from the moment of agony, I had been shaken, as if I had been waiting for this to "return home," which explains the thirst with which I embarked on this discovery. I read the 10 volumes twice in a row, taking notes, following on the "map of Palestine at the time of Jesus" and especially internalizing what I learned about the God-Man, seeking to know him more deeply, participating in his life among the apostles, truly discovering them as human beings and following with them the teaching given by Jesus through words and behavior: Jesus the master, my master too. He became henceforth the intimate guide to whom I opened my heart and mind, where I try to welcome him because I have returned to Faith, the Church, the sacraments, Sunday mass for Him, praying internally, and I try to correspond to what he expects of me because then he gives me such gentle peace, but if I fall short, I am in such discomfort that I go to confession: in others, I see Christ.

Currently, I am rereading the Work while following the Gospel celebrations at mass, but I also reread passages such as the Passion: Gethsemane, the Last Supper, when I feel the need. I also revisit the Notebooks where I always discover something new. I enroll people in "Jesus Today," which parallels the day's Gospel with the same passage in "The Gospel as It Was Revealed to Me," that is, the context in which it was spoken. I also read about the lives of great saints: Saint Augustine, Francis of Assisi, Francis de Sales, Sister Faustina, Padre Pio, Thérèse of the Child Jesus. We only love what we know, and it is thanks to this work that I have known and loved Jesus. Through this life of the God-Man, I have felt "involved." It is through what I have been able to understand about Jesus revealed by this "unimaginable gift for humanity" that is "The Gospel as It Was Revealed to Me." I do not believe in chance: this fortuitous discovery was offered to me by Jesus! He brought me back to Him, saving my soul, He brought me out of nothingness.

What would you say to someone hesitating to discover this work?

It is never too late "the first step is the hardest," and this work is also available in audio version (CD, USB key). And finally, "may the grace of your Lord Jesus Christ be with all those who see in this book an approach to Me and ask that it be fulfilled, to defend them, with the cry of Love: Come, Lord Jesus!" I would add that "The Gospel as it was revealed to me" is not a fifth Gospel: it illustrates and reactivates the same scenes and places the Gospels in the context of the 3 years of Jesus' public life; which makes the text very lively and sometimes more accessible, especially when Jesus, knowing that clarification would be welcome, states it himself.
