Discovery of the work
Via presentation videos of the work and the author on YouTube in 2020. I had absolutely never heard of it before coming across this video dealing with the Valtorta case. I imagine the algorithm eventually suggested it to me because I also study the lives of saints, venerable and blessed individuals. Such as Padre Pio, Mother Yvonne Aim茅e de Malestroit, Marthe Robin, Saint Faustina, etc.
Impact on faith
This reading nourishes my faith every day. Jesus Christ reveals so much of his life that it becomes tangible and palpable. He explains so many subtleties that this source becomes a river of living water, like his explanation on understanding the increasingly deep spiral writing. I appreciate listening to him even when he is angry, because it is always a holy anger that points out our shortcomings in Love. We must accept being corrected by Him. This reading restored my faith in the canonical scripture where I was able to decide once and for all that John the Evangelist is indeed John of Zebedee, apostle of Christ, contrary to some exegetical studies that bring confusion on this subject to the point of shaking faith. I read both in parallel, as well as the Old Testament, which is also made more understandable.
Graces received
My faith has become active and alive because I truly commune with the Lord internally and through the sacraments. Indeed, Jesus has clearly explained the incredible grace that is given to us with the sacraments. But what ingratitude we show by not attending them?!
What would you say to someone hesitating to discover this work?
To start with the part that explains the gift of the work. And also to draw from the scientific studies conducted around the work to prove its authenticity. But above all, to pray that the Lord gives him a strong enough sign that expresses His will regarding the authorization to read the work.
Additional testimony
When I discovered the work of Maria Valtorta and the author herself, I was skeptical because many opinions, both positive and negative, circulated about them, and then there was the position of the Church. So I prayed to ask the Lord if I could read this work because I realized that if it were true, it would be the most beautiful gift of my entire life. Two or three days later, I received my answer. A magnificent sign was given to me: a pretty little glass violet flower, placed on the donation shelf in the hall of my workplace. This sign is very powerful because Jesus himself had nicknamed Maria "His little violet," in reference to the Viola odorata flowers she had contemplated during her very first mystical vision. For me, Maria Valtorta is truly a messenger of the Lord. Her writings are of great richness and deeply illuminate the life of the Hebrews, the historical context of Jesus' teachings, and reveal the depth of His Word. As for me, I will read it all my life.
